Forensic Security Consulting

As a member of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC), the Hotel Security Group (HSG) rigorously applies the forensic methodology established by the IAPSC to render within the system of justice opinions based upon the  forthright, honest and precise assessment of the evidence with the goal of contributing to a just and proper conclusion of litigation. 

The forensic analysis conducted by HSG will provide credible and reliable conclusions on the issues of foreseeability, preventability and causation and will provide written reports, be deposed and/or testify at trial.

HSG Principal Brad Bonnell has testified in depositions and in civil court and has testified as the lead investigator in approximately 350 felony criminal proceedings at both the state and federal level. He has offered evidence in criminal courts in Mexico, Jamaica, Aruba and the UK.  

On behalf of the American Hotel Lodging Association (AHLA) Brad Bonnell testified before a Congressional Subcommittee of the Department of Homeland Security concerning hotel security capability in the US following the terrorist attack against hotels in Mumbai.

HSG has recently been retained as an expert witness:

  • For the defense in a negligent security claim against an Embassy Suites in Des Moines IA concerning an alleged sexual assault and the hotel's compliance with best industry practices.

  • For the defense in a negligent security claim against a Value Place hotel in Louisville, KY concerning an assault in the hotel parking lot and the hotel's compliance with best industry practices.

  • For the defense in a negligent security claim against a Holiday Inn in Houston, TX concerning an alleged sexual assault and the hotel's compliance with best industry practices.

  • For the plaintiff in a negligent security claim against a limited service, economy sector hotel in Mobile, AL concerning an alleged sexual assault and the hotel's compliance with best industry practices.


Strategic Fraud Risk Management

Comprehensive studies and surveys by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) reveals that in the US a business will lose on average 5% of it gross annual revenue to fraud. 

Studies by the University of Bristol in the UK found that on average a hotel will lose 5.7% of its annual gross revenue to fraud.  These studies also revealed that hotels with strategic fraud risk management programs can reduce loss to fraud down to as little as 2%.
